Three pianists from Cannons Creek High School participated in the Tygerberg International Eisteddfod (TIE) held at Curro Durbanville Primary School on Saturday, 27 July. The Eisteddfod is an opportunity for learners to participate on an international platform and to be adjudicated to build self-confidence and to give credit to creativity and excellence. With a humble beginning in 1947 with 200 participants the TIE has grown to 200 schools and private organisations.
Our pianists were Johanna Lee in Grade 9, and Molly de Witt and Seojin Kim in Grade 11.
Johanna performed Hedwig’s Theme by John Williams and achieved 85% in her age category. Molly de Witt performed Terminal 2 by Nathalie Béra-Tagrine and achieved an impressive 88% in her age category. Seojin Kim performed Lento by Zdeněk Fibich and achieved a remarkable 85% in the same category as adult performers.
“We are exceptionally proud of our musicians who after much hard work and dedication represented our school with great aplomb.” – Ms Bronwyn Harvey, Head of Culture.
