Cannons pupil advances to Applications Olympiad Final

An incredible well done to Grade 12 pupil, Ciaran Steenveld for being selected to take part in the Final Round of the Applications Olympiad. The finals will take place in Gauteng between 30 June to 2 July. “I am extremely proud of the Computer Applications Technology pupils. Good luck, Ciaran!” – Mrs Sharon Ferreira, CAT Teacher.

The participants have to solve a number of problems using a Microsoft Office package and the data provided. Contestants are allowed to use the application of their choice, such as the Word Processor, Spreadsheet, Database and Presentation Tool. The Applications Olympiad challenges learners to use what they have learned in ways they may never have been taught.

We had 11 pupils progress to the second round, congratulations must be extended to:

Grade 11: Hannah Erskine, Aidan Lang, Ameer Mohamed, Simran Singh, Max Du Plooy.

Grade 12: Mohamed Khan, Michael Morgan, Ethan Goldschmidt, Ahmad Khan, Juhyuk Kim, and of course Ciaran Steenveld.

We are amongst the Top 9 schools countrywide that will be represented at the Finals, where we are the only school from the Western Cape to advance. Good luck, Ciaran!
