Staff attend Proudly Primary Conference

Cannons Creek Primary School HODs (Susan Alston, Emmie Barkhuizen and Sharon Moore) were privileged to attend the Proudly Primary Conference at the end of last week.

“We were excellently hosted by Epworth School in Pietermaritzburg and enjoyed their beautiful facilities and the meals and entertainment they put on for us.  There was a real buzz among the delegates as we all interacted face to face again. The theme was ‘Perfectly Different’, and various keynote speakers encouraged schools to embrace diversity and use our differences to unite, rather than to divide. Between us we attended various workshops, including sensory processing, managing anxiety, building self esteem, sparking creativity, using technology to support those with learning difficulties and encouraging problem solving. A big shout out to ISASA for the conference and to Varsity College who were the sponsors and a special thank you to Cannons Creek for sending us to this fantastic event. It was good to see how well our school already performs in so many areas and also to be able to bring back some ideas to share with our colleagues.” – Mrs Sue Alston, HOD: Intermediate Phase.
