On Saturday 23 August, two of our pupils Hannah Erskine (Grade 11) and Dana Moores (Grade 10) attended the Red & Yellow Brand Challenge: Speed Brief Edition. Pupils were afforded the opportunity to step into the world of advertising and marketing by tackling a real client brief with Ogilvy, one of the world’s top agencies; and Cue, the platform trusted by brands like Mercedes-Benz, Pick n Pay, Unilever and more.
Through this hands-on experience, pupils were able to build future-ready skills in storytelling, branding, creative thinking, and data interpretation, while exploring careers such as Art Director, Brand Manager, Copywriter, Content Creator, Illustrator, Entrepreneur, or Strategist. The task this year was to make a logo, branding, and a name for an AI chatbot for Cue. Pupils were treated to breakfast, lunch and a tour of the campus during the day’s event.
“Our team was last but it is fine as I got to better some skills such as: teamwork, communication and working under pressure. Overall this event was an excellent experience and I would recommend other people to do it next year even if they do not have any design skills.”- Hannah
“My group came second, and although I didn’t really like the topic, as I don’t like AI, the experience was still fun. Red and Yellow is a really interesting school and I’m hoping they do this again next year, because it’s a good opportunity to make friends and have job experience.” – Dana
