This year marked the first year that Inter-house plays are back on stage, instead of Radio Plays. The Grade 11s took the role of directors, and used AI mainly to write the plays and used some of their own creativity for good measure. They needed to have characters such as Efficiency Expert Edgar, Power Hungry Pam, Prankster Pete; where they had to choose from these characters and add their own bonus characters. The time limit was 10 minutes, with a cast of not more than 10 pupils.
They had fun dressing up, not doing much in terms of set but there’s not much they needed in terms of set as the stories are the focus. The theme was ‘Workplace Shenanigans’, basically things that go wrong in the workplace. Thank you to Camps Bay High School Head of Drama, Darren Moore for adjudicating.
Riverside performed ‘The Case of the Missing Mutt’, set in a Veterinary Clinic, and including a real-life dog on stage; Peak performed ‘The Cut-throat Culprit’, set in a hair salon; and Lonsdale performed ‘The new Police Chief’, set in a police station.
“They were all well-rehearsed despite the pressure of all the end of term tests. Although we only had a very small audience, everyone enjoyed the plays and the performers all excelled in their acting abilities. Thanks to everyone for their hard work and dedication to make this evening a success!” – Ms Judith Herbig, Head of Drama.
Well done to all who performed, but a special congratulations to the award-winners:
