Inagural Science Expo – a success!

Our very first Grade 4-6 Science Expo was a resounding success – the energy and excitement in the Cultural Centre was palpable! Thank you to all our parents for joining us and showing a keen interest in all the pojects.

Pupils were tasked with choosing an experiment that linked to their IBL theme for Term 1. Each grade had also integrated their English setwork book into the IBL theme.

Over the past month, the IP pupils embraced their roles as young scientists, engaging in a hands-on learning experience. They selected, researched, conducted, and presented experiments which culminated in a detailed board outlining the scientific method they followed and were ready to answer any questions.

“The topics were specific, but we were thrilled with the impressive range of experiments that were presented. We are so proud of the confident way in which the pupils engaged with the range of the visitors to the Expo – teenagers to grandparents, and so many people that they didn’t know.” – Mrs Kim Storey, Grade 5 Teacher.

“We couldn’t be prouder of the way they articulated their findings, reflecting a deep understanding and a growing set of 21st century skills.” – Mrs Sue Alston, HOD: Intermediate Phase.

Some comments from parents:

🧑‍🔬“The type of experiments the children had completed are usually taught at high school and even tertiary level. I was impressed with their understanding of scientific methodology for experiments. They were able to confidently explain all the steps and I even learnt a thing or two!” – Yumna Rooknodien

🧑‍🔬“What a fabulous showcase of confident little people with big ideas. I can see this becoming another standard calendar event. I loved seeing so many high school pupils supporting too!” – Cat Gay
