Today, our Grade 6s spent some time in the High School – giving them a feel for what they can look forward to in 2026. After some fun ice-breakers with the two current Head Prefects, and a chat from High School Principal Mr Morton; they joined the current Grade 7s for a Natural Science lesson with Mrs Morgan and Mr Samuels. This was followed by a Science experiment in the Science Lab with Mrs Oliphant; being able to interact with the Grade 8s who were busy with their exciting STEAM projects; and interacted wtih the Grade 12s in the Design classroom who were busy with their thrifting clothing project.
Our two Head Prefects, Reese Rumble and Scott Wilkins, played a fun ice-breaker with them and listened to the things the Grade 6s were anxious or excited about. They were excited about longer breaks, a later start time, bigger friendship groups, more Clubs, a new uniform, and longer Camps. One of the biggest anxieties was longer tests and exams. Reese and Scott pointed out they might be nervous, but they’re all in it together; and that with new challenges come great opportunities. Mr Morton, rebutted their anxieties by reminding them that without change, there is no growth. He also reminded them that they should be excited by new things, and reassured them that High School is all about relationships and that they can fully grow into themselves in High School. He also give them two tips to master, to fly in High School – plan your time, and work hard. Added to this, he encouraged them to always give 100% of themselves and to attend all events.
Grade 6s – we look forward to you swapping uniform and crossing the field at the end of the year!
