The Grade 4 IBL topic this term is “Shake Up the World in a Gentle Way”. We have been looking at how Mahatma Gandhi used peaceful protests and fasting to advocate for changes that were important to him. He was strongly influenced by his Hindu beliefs. We have touched on four major religions, all represented in our classes – Hinduism, Islam, Christianity and Judaism. We invited parents to come and give us some information, for example, where they worship, their festivals and celebrations, particular life-style requirements and their holy scriptures. It is important to be aware of what others believe so that we can have a better understanding and learn to respect everyone, even if they are different from us.
