Kim Storey:
I am originally from Johannesburg, born and bred! I started teaching in Mafikeng and have since worked in various schools around the Western Cape. I also spent five years working for a youth empowerment NGO. I have spent the last eight years at Bridge House School, outside of Franschhoek. My husband and I have recently moved into the city and we are looking forward to a new and exciting chapter in our lives. We have two daughters in their 20’s and have been left with a grumpy cat to look after! I am passionate about empowering young people, developing their confidence through creative, lateral thinking. I find Inquiry-Based Learning inspiring – integrating ways of teaching and connecting with pupils in the classroom. I look forward to joining the Cannons Creek family, who have already been so welcoming and enthusiastic.
I am joining as a Grade 5 teacher.
Sharon Jellicoe:
I have been teaching both High School and Primary School for a number of years. I am a qualified High School English and Life Orientation teacher, and have also taught from Grade 4 -7 at various primary schools. I have taught in the UK and at private and government schools locally. Most recently I have headed up the English Department at Kenridge Primary where I taught Grade 7. My daughter, Georgie is joining Cannons Creek this year in Grade 8, and we are in the process of relocating to Pinelands from Durbanville. I have a passion for teaching, and enjoy reading a good book, spending quality family time together and volunteering at any organisation which cares for dogs. I am excited about this new chapter in my life and look forward to teaching at Cannons Creek.
I am joining as a Grade 6 teacher.
Zoë Theunissen:
My name is Zoë Theunissen and I am from the far off land of Athlone, the Cape Flats.
I have recently completed my B.Ed. degree for Foundation Phase, thus I am more of a novice teacher within the community. I have always been passionate about education, language and children, along with a great passion for the arts. It has always been a dream of mine to somehow link these aspects together. Whenever I am given the opportunity to teach children, I aim to include all the different parts to create a ‘new whole’. I look forward to a fruitful journey at Cannons Creek, one of constant growth, development, teaching and learning, with just a bit of fun on the side.
I will be joining as a Pre-Primary assistant, and helping in the Aftercare.
Nomfundiso Mbali:
I am a happily married mother of three children, blessed with two boys and one girl.
I was born in Matatiele and grew an ever-lasting passion on how education can shape a generation of the next movers and shakers. I have been a teacher for 15 years and a publisher for 10 years at Oxford University Press.
I will be joining as the isiXhosa teacher for the Primary School.
Saranne Hudson:
I have recently moved to Cape Town from Joburg. My passions in life are sport and education, healthy living, and wellness. I’m a 3 x Comrades Marathon and full Ironman finisher as well as a SA Masters swimmer.
I love animals – mostly my Border Collie, Maui, who is also a therapy dog. I love the sea and surfing. I’m so excited to be part of Cannons Creek and look forward to taking the sport to all new levels.
