Congratulations to 2024 Grade 12 pupil Danica Coetzee from Cannons Creek Independent School who received the tremendous honour of being one of 12 Design pupils’ whose work was selected for ‘The Face of Design and Visual Arts’ Exhibition. This prestigious event on the WCED Visual Arts and Design calendar celebrates some of the most creative work done by the Grade 12 Class of 2024. The event was hosted by the Creative Arts Academy in January 2025.
Danica’s final Grade 12 examination practical surface design was selected for its creativity, narrative and risk taking. Her work was inspired by the negative effects of oil spills in the ocean. Through experimentation with different inks and oils, she created original source material and then analysed, dissected and transformed these into a series of surface designs (repeat patterns).
