Cannons Creek High School performed the play ‘Law and Order: Fairy Tale Unit’ by Jonathan Rand, on 12 and 13 May 2022. According to Head of Drama and Director, Ms Judith Herbig, “It was quite a challenge to direct because it had over 27 characters in it.” In the fairy tale criminal justice system, the characters from fairy tales and nursery rhymes are represented by two separate yet equally ridiculous groups: the fairy tale police who investigate fairy tale crime, and the fairy tale district attorneys who prosecute the fairy tale offenders – their stories were told.
“All the performers managed to capture the essence of their characters on stage and I was really proud of them to achieve that under the still difficult Covid situation. The play is not a “laugh-a-minute” type of comedy and has a lot of verbal puns, which they all manage to express with good comedic timing. Adding some dance sequences and lights made the overall performance quite memorable.” – Ms Judith Herbig, Head of Drama and Director. Current parent, Ms Ingrid Von Stein, commented “Such a great evening out. Laughed more than I have in two years. Such fantastic talent on the stage. Thank you for entertaining us.” “The play was incredible! I was in stitches! Loved it!”, said Mrs Monika Brandt, High School Physical Science teacher.
