George Santayana famously said that “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”
With this is mind, the Grade 9 learners of Cannons Creek Independent School visited the Cape Town Holocaust and Genocide Centre, on Tuesday 16 March 2021, to help bring their History studies from Term 1 to life. Under the guidance of Mrs Linda Hackner and her team of volunteer guides, our students spent a significant part of the morning in the
Holocaust exhibit. The permanent exhibit makes archival footage and artefacts from the era easily accessible. The students were confronted by the horrors of the Holocaust as well as the depths of compassion and courage that resisters and victims displayed during this time.
