In an exciting first for Cannons Creek Independent High School, it joined the TheatreLink Programme, an international playwriting exchange programme run by the prestigious Manhattan Theatre Club in New York City. This partnership involves 15 schools across the globe, fostering a global exchange of creativity and performance. The Grade 11 Dramatic Arts pupils spent the first term writing a play which was sent to a school in Salem, Virginia.
Cannons Creek Grade 11s received a script from Spotswood High School in New Jersey titled ‘The Family Man’. This political drama follows the mayoral campaign of Robert Periwinkle, as he desperately tries to keep his house in order – both in the polls and behind closed doors. This play was performed at Cannons Creek pupils, directed by Grade 11 pupils, on Tuesday 19 May 2026.
“I would like to commend the Grade 11 Dramatic Arts pupils on embracing this project so wholeheartedly and producing both a script and a production of an exceptional standard,” said Ms Susan Baker (Head of Dramatic Arts). “Producing this play has been one of the greatest learning experiences for us. At times it was challenging, not knowing if we’d actually be able to pull it off, but being able to share this is such a full circle moment, and we are immensely proud. We’re forever grateful for having the opportunity to express ourselves creatively, and being able to work with such amazing people,” said Isabella Februarie and Hayley Poole (Grade 11 Directors).
