After many years in the making, the Cannons Creek Board of Governors was formally established at a small function last night. The Board is made up of the Principals of the High and Primary Schools, the School Finance Manager, a representative of the Trust, the Chair of the Cannons Creek Parent Association and six Governors appointed by the Trust (at this stage we have only appointed four).
The four appointed Governors are: Mr David de Korte: David is the recently retired Principal of Camps Bay High School and still current Chairperson of the South African Principals Association and joins us with a wealth of school management experience. He will be the Chairman of the Board.
Prof. Caroline Ncube: Caroline, a past parent of Cannons Creek High School, is the Professor who heads the Department of Commercial Law at UCT and is actively involved in the field of Intellectual Property.
Adv. David Melunsky: David has been an Advocate of the Cape Bar since 1999. He is a Senior Counsel in various fields of law and general commercial litigation. David has served on the Interim Parent Association and is a current parent of three pupils at Cannons Creek.
Mr David Booth: David has been with Cannons Creek for a number of years, heading up the Finance Department. Now that he has retired he has kindly agreed to make his time, experience and expertise available as a Governor.
The remaining two positions will be filled as soon as possible. We welcome our new Governors and look forward to working closely with them in the future.
