In honour of World Book Day, Cannons Creek Independent Primary School put into play several initiatives in the week leading up to the main event on 23 April 2023. Every day, the bell was rung at various times and pupils needed to DEAR (Drop Everything And Read), as well as teaming up with an older/younger buddy in the school, to read together. The school also embarked upon a ‘Readathon’ event where parents sponsored a monetary amount per pages read. A collection drive for old books, which will be distributed to those in need, was organised; as well as hosting The Travelling Bookshop for parents and pupils to browse and purchase books. The week culminated in a parade with the pupils dressed up as book characters, followed by a book quiz in their Cool2Care mentor groups. The final event was ‘Flashlight Friday’ where pupils, cosy with a blanket, spent some time enjoying reading their books. Click here to view more.
