Cannons Creek achieves 100% pass rate again

Cannons Creek Independent School, situated in the leafy suburb of Pinelands, Cape Town, is thrilled to announce its 2020 Matric Results – 100% Matric Pass rate since the inception of the school in 1999, and 100% Bachelor’s Pass again. The High School Principal, Mr Mike van Haght said, “This is an excellent set of results from our Matrics, in an especially trying year. We would like to congratulate firstly, our pupils, followed by our staff, and the Matrics’ families for their support.” The Cannons Creek 2020 Matric Class boasts 81 distinctions from a class of 26 pupils, resulting in an average of 3.12 distinctions per matriculant. Of particular significance and interest is that eight subjects written achieved A averages (this includes Mathematics), and seven subjects achieved B averages. Four pupils achieved six distinctions – Kian Frassek, Nicholas Jacobs, Hyeokju Kwon, and Jeong Eun Shin. Kian Frassek was the school’s 2020 Dux Scholar, and maintained this success by achieving the school’s highest average – 87.57%. The school is especially proud of Kian, who achieved these results despite an ongoing struggle with severe dyslexia.

In terms of plans for 2021 – the Cannons Creek Matric Class of 2020 is diverse with Kian Frassek planning on studying Mechatronics at UCT; Nicholas Jacobs planning on studying Actuarial Science at UCT; Julia Lee studying Neuro Sciences in the USA; and Jeong Eun Shin studying Biochemistry in Canada. Some other plans for the Class of 2020 include an internship at a local church; studying Environmental Sciences; and studying towards a Higher Certificate in Internetwork Systems.
