For the third year, Cannons Creek took great pride in participating the Table Bay Zonal Athletics event. This year our school was placed in the C Section and competed against 11 other schools at the Vygieskraal Athletics Stadium on 7 February. The entire experience left our pupils in awe, as they soaked in the vibrant atmosphere of the event. The dedication of our junior athletes was truly commendable, with several of them showcasing exceptional talent and securing top placements in their events.
Participating in the Table Bay Zonal Athletics event proved to be a valuable learning experience for our pupils, providing them with exposure and insights into the world of athletics. The memories created at the Table Bay Zonal Athletics event will undoubtedly linger in the hearts of our athletes. I am immensely proud of each and every one of them for their hard work, determination, and sportsmanship displayed throughout this event.

“The atmosphere at the Zonals event was filled with vibrant energy! As a first-time track runner, it was thrilling to compete and watch every lap. Watching athletes doing the long jump, hurdles and other interesting events was fascinating. At first, I was quite nervous to compete, but in the end this was truly a memorable experience. I am extremely grateful for being given the opportunity to represent our school on the track.” – Qaylah Omar (Grade 8).
“There was a lot of cheering from the bigger schools. I enjoyed watching the people run, and do the high jumps. It was nice to run on a track, and I made some friends with the people I ran against. Overall, I really enjoyed it and can’t wait to run again.” – Khloe Potgieter (Grade 8).
