On Wednesday 3 December, we celebrated not only the achievements of our Grade 1-3 pupils, but the incredible journey of growth, learning, and confidence they have shown throughout the year. Coach Tim and Ms Block were the Guests of Honour, whilst our Junior Choir performed ‘When I grow up’ from ‘Matilda’, and we had two instrumental items – Daniel Habtemichael performed a Violin piece, and Suri Naidoo played the piano.
Extract from Mrs Wahl’s speech:
I’d like to share a thought from the story ‘Glow’ by Kayla Diamond, a popular book amongst our FP pupils. In the story, we meet Bo, a glowstick who feels sad because he thinks he is broken. All his friends seem to shine more brightly than he does. They’ve been turned into creative glow crafts, and Bo worries that he doesn’t have anything special to offer. But as the story unfolds, Bo discovers something powerful: the glow was inside him all along. He just needed to believe in himself, and once he did, his light shone in a way only he could shine.
Children, you are just like Bo. Sometimes you might feel unsure, or you might think someone else is faster, or louder, or better at something than you are. But the truth is this: every one of you has your own glow – a special combination of talents, personality, kindness, courage, and creativity that no one else has. Some of you shine quietly, by helping a friend or trying your best every day. Some of you shine through hard work, always showing determination. Some of you shine with creativity, enthusiasm, or joy. And some of you shine by being brave enough to try again after something feels difficult. Today we celebrate those unique glows.

Our teachers have had the privilege of witnessing this development every day – guiding, encouraging, and sharing in each milestone. We extend our heartfelt thanks to our dedicated teachers for their hard work and passion; from class teachers, to extra-mural teachers, to our Aaftercare teachers. We have all played a vital role. Thank you to our supportive parents whose commitment makes this success possible. Together, we have helped our children shine.
This year’s theme was ‘Fundamentals’. Throughout the year, we focused on the core skills that help children grow, while filling every day with laughter, curiousity, and connection.

building blocks of learning and character, to to our FUNTASTIC friends who remind us that school is a place of belonging and support, every moment helped shape a vibrant year. Our strong FUNdations grounded us in routines, skills, and values that helped us thrive.
We enjoyed FUNomenal lessons filled with discovery, creativity, and wonder. And above all, we celebrated functioning as a team – working together, lifting one another up, and showing that we learn best when we learn together.
Our trophy awards recognise pupils who have shown outstanding achievement in academics, exceptional dedication and creativity in cultural activities, and remarkable commitment and sportsmanship on the field. Each award honours not just talent, but hard work, perseverance, and a joyful spirit of learning. We are proud of every child who has risen to shine in these areas and inspired others along the way.
