On 18 August, six Cannons Creek Independent School pupils – Bethany Reynders (Grade 9), Emily Meder (Grade 8), Dru Samuels (Grade 8), Stella Melunsky (Grade 5), Abigail Odendaal (Grade 4), and Michaela Goldstein (Grade 2) were excited to participate in a filmed performance of a ballet piece which will form part of the Artscape Theatre’s School Arts Festival. They are students at Pinelands Dance for A Change Ballet Studio. Choreographed by Sannette van der Mescht, the piece forms part of the production ‘Dancing Against All Odds’, which celebrates the diversity of dance and the resilience of the arts during the past year. Masks were worn during stage rehearsals but the piece was filmed without masks as all protocols were observed in the choreography.
