Cannons Creek Independent School held its end-of-year Prizegiving and Valedictory Awards Ceremony on 19 October 2023.The aim of this evening was to celebrate the culmination of 12 years of schooling. The Matrics were wished success for their final examinations, but also their future endeavours. Mr Morton (High School Principal) opened his address by congratulating each Matric on achieving this milestone in their educational life and their life journey, amidst the 21st Valedictory Assembly. As is tradition, the audience was treated to a special video showcasing the Matrics’ journey which sparked several laughs and a few tears. A new tradition was started where the families that have been with the School since Pre-Primary, were given a special token of appreciation. “Get cape. Wear cape. Fly.” Mr Morton affirmed that each Matric was authentically themselves, and that several of them are already flying. He encouraged the Class of 2023 to continue discovering talents; developing skills and attitudes; and to remain true to themselves. He added to make the most of every opportunity – to fly. He ended his address with a motivating quote – “The world is made a better place by those who refuse to believe they cannot fly.”
